About Gwendolyn

Gwendolyn Dussan is a millennial therapist who has enough lived experience full of trials and tribulations to know it's important to keep reaching out a hand to others. She has walked the path of therapy herself, gaining the lived experience that shapes her work as a therapist. She knows that sometimes the things unseen by others hurt the deepest. She has walked many career paths, worn many hats, and knows how a career sometimes intertwines with identity and self-worth.

She specializes in working with women, entrepreneurs, executives, and high-performance athletes. Her areas of expertise include addressing perfectionism, fostering personal growth, navigating career and life transitions, resolving workplace issues, improving relationships with food, addressing body image concerns, and boosting self-esteem. With over 20 years of experience in the dance community (ballet, jazz, modern, and hip-hop), she brings additional expertise in the mind-body connection and is equipped to support those navigating disordered eating by fostering body confidence, self-acceptance, and developing new coping strategies. Her commitment to social justice, honed through training at Loyola University Chicago, further guides her work as she serves our diverse community with empathy and respect.

My Approach

I am honored to bring both experience and a specialized focus on Mindfulness-Based Interventions to my practice. I help high-achieving adults manage perfectionism by developing personalized coping strategies and address their unique pressures and challenges. My approach is grounded in helping clients anchor themselves in the present moment, cultivating deeper self-awareness, and embracing openness to growth and change.

Therapy can be the place where you learn what really matters to you and what you want to do about it. Every person has a unique journey; therefore, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to counseling. The techniques I gravitate to are Client-Centered, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative, and a collaborative approach. During guided self-reflection and processing of life events, people can gain the confidence to shape what is within their control to mold their future and feel grounded in the now.
