Couples Counseling

Strengthen your relationship through guided conversations, improved communication skills, and deeper emotional connection with your partner.

Understanding Couples Counseling

Couples counseling provides a safe, structured space for partners to address conflict, improve communication, and rebuild emotional intimacy. Whether you are navigating a specific challenge (infidelity, financial stress, a major life transition) or simply want to strengthen your bond, our therapists are here to help you reconnect.

Many couples wait years after problems begin before seeking help, and by that time, patterns of disconnection and resentment can be deeply entrenched. The good news is that it is never too late. Our couples therapists are trained in the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), evidence-based approaches designed to help partners understand each other's emotional needs, break free from negative cycles, and develop healthier communication.

Your therapist serves as a neutral guide (not a referee), helping you navigate difficult conversations with compassion and structure. Using the Gottman Method, you will learn to identify and counteract the "Four Horsemen" of relationship breakdown: criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling. Through EFT, you will explore the attachment needs beneath surface-level conflicts and build a deeper emotional bond where both partners feel safe to be vulnerable.

Throughout the process, you will develop practical skills (active listening, constructive conflict resolution, emotional attunement, and repair after arguments) that you practice both in session and at home. Couples counseling is not only for relationships in crisis; many couples come to us proactively, wanting to invest in making a good relationship even better. We welcome couples of all backgrounds, orientations, and relationship structures.
